For one year, Barbara Kingsolver and her family vowed to only eat food that was raised in their neighborhood or grown in their garden – or they would learn to live without it. The book journals their culinary adventure, and it investigates the many steps in food production. Several of you recommended it, which just sealed the deal in the direction I was already leaning.

Tuesdays With Morrie is one of my all time favorites. I haven't read it lately, but it's one of those books I can't put down, even though I have read it multiple times.

For any one that has recently lost someone dear to them or has a loved one battling with a life threatening illness, I can recommend "Final Gifts - Understanding the special awareness, needs and communications of the dying."
Having recently lost someone very dear to me, this book came as a godsend and helped to put a whole lot of my questions and the nature of my grief into perspective.
Written by Maggie Callanan & Patricia Kelley. These two women have each worked as nurses in palliative care for over 10 years and their experience, astute observation, listening, counselling and sharing with patients and their families really shines through, making this book one of those rare gifts that provides support and guidance for a time that can bring with it a crippling emptiness. This one got me out of bed when I thought that I would never move again. HIghly recommended.
