I have a Nikon D80 and I love it! It's easy to use, durable, the pictures look great!
Currently I use Nikon, I shoot with the D3, however I have owned Canon in the past, as well as many other brands. ;)
We have a Nikon D5000. It's very easy to use as far as the Auto settings go. It also has a "Scene" setting that sets the aperture for you depending on your lighting and what you are trying to shoot. I am in the process of reading up on the technical aspects of the camera so that I can really fine tune my shots. I also just bought Aperture for Mac, but I am a bit lost with it right now.
I use a Canon Rebel XS its my 2nd Canon. The first was a Rebel G, and it has since become my back up, as it is a 35mm and not digital. I also Prefer my 35-80mm lens. Im slowly learning the world of Digital Photography, after being a 35mm user for the last 13 years. =)
I currently use aDSLR Canon Rebel T1i 500D kit lens EFS 18-55mm and and Canon Zoom Lens EFS 55-250mm with a Canon Speedlite 270ex
I currently use a Canon 50D. I've worked my way up through the Powershot line up and through the Rebels. :) I absolutely LOVE it. Like really love it. The high ISO low noise capabilities is what sold me into the Canon line to begin with and has been what has kept me here. In my personal life with my kids I find myself doing a lot of low light shooting which really demands it.

As for a camera with video capabilities? Haven't really used a high end one yet but I plan on getting my grubby little hands on the Canon 5DMkII in the future!

(Jeez, I sound like a Canon ad!)

I like the Fujifilm brands. Unfortunately, they don't seem to last very long... (maybe because I leave them lying around?) I got a Kodak and I found it frustrating to use although, the pictures came out pretty good. I just ordered a Fujifilm (unsure of the model as of right now) and I paid a bit more for it so I'm hoping it will last.
I have a Nikon D5000, love the camera I have probably taken 2000 pictures with it, I dont use my manual setting unless I am inside and totally unsure of what I am doing. I get lost in my camera, it is my first real camera and I think it is awesome. I hope someday I will be able to sell my photos and possibly make a living doing so. I suffered a back injury a few years ago and it looks as if I wont be going back to work. The last thing I need is to be sucking off the state, so I am looking for ways to make a living, and photography would be a great way, I just dont know how feasible it really is? But you have to have a dream, for the soul dies without hopes and dreams.
I use a Nikon D5000 typically matched with my 18-55mm or 70-300mm lens for my 1-2 punch.   The D5000 has a nice  Auto setting but provides full flexibility to allow me to provide depth of field in my wildflower photos and good shutter speed control for my waterfall cascade shots.  Moved from a 35mm film camera to P&S about 10 years ago and now moving back to a DSLR to get control back into my photographs.
