Surrey County Show 2010 Will you be my friend? As a child this is a very powerful question. I know that as an innocent child I asked this question freely. As an adult I may be inclined to feel like an utter fool asking this question of another adult. How would another adult respond if I asked this question of them? I had to find out for myself.
So being the odd person that I am, I did just this to the first person I ran into to see what type of response I would get. Is the word "huh" in the Webster Dictionary? This is the response I received with a completely stunned questioning look on her face lol. This person literally acted as if they did not hear the question that was asked of them. It threw them completely off guard and out of their comfort zone. The response is exactly what I expected.
Why do we no longer have the self confidence as an adult to ask this simple question? Why is it as an adult we can no longer communicate on such an honest and open simple level?
Is it fear of rejection? Is it fear of showing one's emotions? When one becomes an adult do we look at friendship on a different level believing that a friendship need not be requested or discussed?
So what do you think, will you be my friend?

I think that is one of the best things about the internet. No matter how isolated you are (or may feel), you can have a world of friends at your fingertips. I know the internet definitely helps me. I am a stay-at-home mom and my hubby works 12-13 hour shifts and we only have 1 car so I'm pretty much stuck home. I do need an occasional adult conversation. My 3 yr old is smart, but it still has to be super G rated. lol.

Ditto on that Beckey. I live out in the country. My nearest town of Corning is just that a town. So here we are with how do you make friends.Where do you make friends, down at the local Indian Casino lol? That's about all we have. The next town up is RedBluff. Well let's see this past Memorial Day weekend they had the 2010 HEMP FESTIVAL. Well, I didn't attend it. I didn't feel I would meet Mr. Right there. Maybe it is just fate. Could it be as simple as that? Oh and Beckey, Thank you for being so friendly 80)

I want it to be that simple again. Making friends can be difficult when you are an adult. So keeping it nice and simple; Yes, I will be your friend. :)
