Will you be my friend? As a child this is a very powerful question. I know that as an innocent child I asked this question freely. As an adult I may be inclined to feel like an utter fool asking this question of another adult. How would another adult respond if I asked this question of them? I had to find out for myself.
So being the odd person that I am, I did just this to the first person I ran into to see what type of response I would get. Is the word "huh" in the Webster Dictionary? This is the response I received with a completely stunned questioning look on her face lol. This person literally acted as if they did not hear the question that was asked of them. It threw them completely off guard and out of their comfort zone. The response is exactly what I expected.
Why do we no longer have the self confidence as an adult to ask this simple question? Why is it as an adult we can no longer communicate on such an honest and open simple level?
Is it fear of rejection? Is it fear of showing one's emotions? When one becomes an adult do we look at friendship on a different level believing that a friendship need not be requested or discussed?
So what do you think, will you be my friend?
